The celebration of nature and human connection

Reserva Conchal is a place to be at one with nature, where the background noise comes not from sirens and honking horns but from birdsong and howler monkeys.

With a 96-acre wildlife reserve, awe-inspiring hiking trails and undisturbed mangroves, it’s a place to connect with the magic of nature at its most pristine, to recharge your inner battery by getting in touch with the primordial.

Outdoor sports offer multiple ways to maintain an active lifestyle in a resplendent natural environment. Walk, run or bike the trails, and plunge into the turquoise bay for swimming, kayaking, snorkeling or paddle-boarding. Breathe in the fresh air, sweat out the toxins and relax afterward on your deck taking in the transcendent calm.

The poolside, beachfront Catalinas Restaurant, operated by TROON International, also serves breakfast, lunch and dinner as a special amenity for members of the Beach Club. Supporting both organic eating and community empowerment, the Hortalizas Najui project is made up of local women to raise organic vegetables that are served at Reserva Conchal’s restaurants and other venues (Hortalizas means vegetables and Najui is a Chorotega word for women).

And yes, FIFCO, our parent company is the maker of Imperial beer!, so we don’t frown on having a cold one. From this classic bottled beverage to an astonishing array of imaginative cocktails, the restaurants and bars throughout the resort are prepared to tempt your palate and satisfy your thirst.

Reserva Conchal is a vibrant and international community. More than 40 families reside here full-time, some with children and teenagers who attend the excellent schools nearby.

Many residents form long-lasting friendships, families who get together every day to walk their dogs, or neighbors who meet up for dinner, drinks or a round of golf.

English is widely spoken here, of course, but so is French, German, Italian, Portuguese and Russian. Reserva Conchal is a melting pot of cultures and nationalities where you will meet fascinating people from all backgrounds, races and professions.

Our annual Heineken New Year’s Eve beach party, with DJ’s, live music, and dancing is the perfect way to ring in the new. We celebrate Earth Day, Independence day, Christmas, International Peace Day, the Fourth of July and every holiday in between. And we pair grown-up parties with separate activities for children to give the parents some space. Also, we host weddings, dance to live music and enjoy bonfires at the Plaza del Mar beachfront venue.

...and we never forget our sazzy neighbour:  The W Hotel, with its endless possibilities for recreation.

If you need to see a doctor or buy something at the store, Huacas is five minutes away. If you’re a parent with children, enroll them in the fine private schools at CRIA, Educarte or La Paz. Brasilito is a picturesque little beach town north of Conchal, Flamingo is an upscale community with a new marina in the final planning stages, and Potrero is another charming town with a large expat community. The so-called “Monkey Trail” between Potrero and Artola is newly paved, making Playas del Coco as accessible as Tamarindo. All within an hour of the international airport in Liberia and half an hour of Tamarindo’s airport.

In the middle of all this is Playa Conchal, an epicenter where you can strike out in any direction. Medical clinics, schools, grocery stores, pharmacies, banks, hardware stores, restaurants and bars are a short drive away. Conchal occupies a “Goldilocks zone” between too crowded and too remote. It’s deeply embedded in nature and yet so close to all the comforts of civilization.
